STAY SAFE

Five things you can do today to protect yourself online. No technical knowledge required.

01. GET A PASSWORD MANAGER

Most people use the same password everywhere. One breach and everything is exposed. A password manager generates and stores unique passwords for every site. Recommended: Bitwarden (free), 1Password (paid). Set it up today — it takes 20 minutes and protects everything.

02. TURN ON TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION

Even if someone gets your password, 2FA stops them getting in. Enable it on your email first — that's the master key to everything else. Use an authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Authy, not SMS if you can avoid it.

03. KNOW HOW PHISHING WORKS

Most people get hacked not by clever code but by a convincing email or message. The rule is simple: if something creates urgency, asks for credentials, or comes from an unexpected sender — stop. Verify through a different channel before you click anything.

04. LOCK DOWN YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA

Your public social media profile tells attackers your name, employer, location, family members, and daily routine. Go through your privacy settings today and make everything private. What you share is a map — make sure it leads nowhere.

05. KEEP SOFTWARE UPDATED

Most successful attacks exploit known vulnerabilities that already have patches available. Enable automatic updates on your phone, laptop, and router. An unpatched device is an open door.

These five steps are the foundation. The Protect Your Digital Life track covers everything in detail — from identity theft recovery to teaching your family to stay safe.
